Home study complete

Well, we had our final visit with the social worker, Audrey last night. She has been so great. She visited with the kids and asked them how they feel about getting a new sister. They both answered like they had been trained (we actually didn't :) ). They did a great job. One funny thing: Audrey asked the kids if they had any questions for her (I'm sure she was expecting something that pertained to adoption). Seth felt like he needed to get to know her better, I guess. He asked what was her favorite color and favorite animal. We gave Audrey a tour of the house, paid her a lot of money and she says that the completed home study should be to us in about a week! The home study has to be complete in order to file with the CIS (part of Homeland Security) here is a brief explanation of how things should go:

  • submit homestudy to CIS
  • wait for fingerprint appointment
  • get fingerprinted
  • wait for 171H - the form that says we are approved to bring an orphan to the US
  • then we can submit our dossier to the US Consulate in Chicago
  • then DTC (Dossier to China)
  • get an LID date - this is the date that China lists you as active in their system
  • Wait, wait, wait
  • get referral
  • get travel approval
  • travel to China (approx 4 - 6 weeks after referral)

We are confident that God has our little girl in His care already. The waiting will be hard, but I am sure that her guardian angels will look after her. You can all remind me of these things when the waiting is hard!!

Thanks for following our progress!
